Situated in Sablet in the Rhone Valley, the Domaine de Verquire winery is a 45-hectare estate that has been passed down from father to son over four generations. They are French certified organic. This wine is a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah from their vineyard in Rasteau. Deep ruby red. A nose of fruit, blackcurrant, sloe berry, black cherry and subtle spicy notes. Fresh on the palate expressing notes of ripe red berries, liquorice, earth and pepper, Powerful with firm tannins, rich red fruit flavors and good balance. With its more robust nature and earthier character the Rasteau red goes well with strongly flavored game dishes such as wild boar or deer. It is also good with medium-matured cheeses.
